About the Administration View Folders

This chapter provides a brief summary of each of the Administration view’s folders, with cross references to other sections and chapters containing more detailed information.

To access the Administration view’s folders, you must be logged in as Administrator, or as a user with Administrator privileges. For information on logging into FaxPress Plus and the Administrator mailbox, see FaxPress Plus: An Introduction.

 

Users & Groups

Expand this branch to display the Groups and Users configured for this server. To add, delete or configure a user or group, right-click on a user or group and select Add, Delete or Properties. You can also add a user by right clicking on the Users folder itself and selecting Add User. Refer to Creating FaxPress Enterprise User and Group Accounts for more information.

System & Diagnostics

The System & Diagnostics folder contains the System Information folder and the Trace Management folder.

The System Information folder displays the Enterprise’s Windows system settings: System Name, Serial Number, IP Address, MAC Address Available Disk Space, etc. The System Information folder also allows you to change the Enterprise’s IP Address, shut it down, reboot it, or reset the fax board.

The Trace Management folder allows you to enable trace information on the Enterprise’s services to be recorded, retrieved, or sent to Castelle tech support for analysis. See Using the System Information Functions for information.

Embedded Services

The Enterprise’s Embedded Services include the Fax Archive, System Backup, Email Gateway, System Restore, Active Directory, DropFax, eCopy Connector and Xerox Interface services. Drop Directory

Drop Directory, the Enterprise’s production faxing application allows third-party applications to access the Drop Directory to send outgoing faxes and retrieve incoming faxes. See Drop Directory and the DropFax Service.

Logged In Users

Opening this folder displays all users currently logged into the FaxPress Enterprise server.

Transaction Logs

The Transaction Logs folder, allowing you to view and manage the FaxPress Enterprise transaction log files, contains two subfolders: Received Logs and Transmitted Logs. To configure these logs, click on them, or right-click on them and select Set Filter. The transaction logs can be saved as either .txt or .csv files, and can also be printed. Only FaxPress users with Administrator privilege can manage (View, Edit, or Delete) the transaction logs. Refer to Managing Transaction Logs.

Fax Reports

FaxPress Enterprise Fax Report, a convenient, user-friendly presentation tool for the Enterprise's operations, generates the Enterprise's fax transaction log information in a variety of report formats. See Fax Reporting.

Internet Fax

Internet faxing is sending a fax over the internet to a remote fax machine, which then uses phone lines at its own location to send your fax at a lower cost. Refer to Castelle Internet Faxing.

Bill Back Code Table

The FaxPress Enterprise administrator can require users to implement a bill back code when sending a fax, and also specify the bill back codes that must be used. The Billback Code Table folder is where you define your codes. Refer to Defining Bill Back Codes.

Software Activation Key

The Software Activation Key directory allows you to activate your FaxPress Plus software. Refer to Activating the FaxPress Enterprise Software for more information.

Approval

The Approval folder allows you to define fax approval requirements for individual users and grant approver status to specific FaxPress Enterprise users. Approval requirements are based on telephone access: local, long distance or international phone numbers. Approvers are designated by their level of access privileges. Refer to Configuring Fax Approval.

Fax Lines

The Fax Lines directory displays all fax lines and the status, line direction, and routing type information regarding each. Right-clicking and selecting Properties on the fax lines displayed in this folder allow you to configure your fax lines. Refer to Configuring Fax Lines. Fax Lines can also be configured from the Server Properties’ Fax Line Settings tab. See Line Settings for additional information.

Carbon Copy User

The Carbon Copy User function allows a primary user to specify additional users who will receive copies of all incoming faxes, outgoing faxes, or both. See Using the Carbon Copy Feature.

Corporate Cover Pages

The FaxPress Enterprise can attach a corporate or personal, default or customized cover page as the first page to an outgoing fax. Typically, a cover page contains recipient and sender information. The Corporate Cover Pages folder contains default cover pages available to all users. See Creating Cover Pages.

Corporate Phone Books

Corporate phone books used by all your FaxPress Enterprise users are created in this directory. Corporate phone books can be either native or external phonebooks. Only the FaxPress Enterprise Administrator or a user with Operator privilege can edit the corporate phone book. Refer to Contacts and Phone Books .
